Northcape Nature is a fishing camp at Gjesvær at 71* North in Norway. We have houses, boats and happy guides. You are very welcome to our fishing camp. We are a good place for a holiday for the fisherman’s friends, a family vacation or team trips. Our hosts and fishing guides Filip and Klas are our happy hosts and fishing guides. They “fix the fish”, so to speak. Both Filip and Martin grew up with one foot in the sea. Filip loves competitive fishing and has traveled all over the Nordics at competitions. Martin has been an angler since he was little, both sea fishing and inland fishing. Filip and Martin are friendly and helpful, and you will feel safe and taken care of – yes, even with a smile on your face. Gjesvær Gjesvær is a fishing village close to North Cape in Finnmark, Norway. We are at 71* North! And we love to say that we live in Funmark. Welcome to experiencing wildlife and our wild life in the Arctic wilderness. In the Summer, the sun never goes down. Living in the radiance of the midnight sun is an experience in itself. And in the winter, the sun never comes up, but then we have the Northern Lights to keep us alive and kicking. The fishery in Gjesvær is among the richest in the world. The ocean offers salmon, cod, coalfish, wolffish, haddock and halibut! There are also whales and also a lot of seal. Gjesvær also has a lot of nice trails to walk, and up the mountains you'll find plenty of good fishing lakes with big trout! “Gjesværstappan” is an iconic mountain and a breeding ground for around 3 million sea birds. It is located only 10 minutes away from Gjesvær by boat. The main attractions here are the puffins. There are around 400 000 couples and younger birds. There are also a lot of eagles, gannets, auks, common murres, cormorants and teal. In the summer, raindeers walk in our streets. Gjesvær is the only place in Finnmark that is known from the viking era, and is mentioned in Snorre Sturlasson's Heimskringla from 1225 as Geirsver. Bring your widest smiles, as you'll experience beautiful nature, great fishing, bird safaris and mountain tracks at its best! Well, and let’s not forget the local people. We have heard that we are also quite a tourist attraction! Fishing Deep sea fishing is a sport for everyone. The adrenaline can actually be compared to doing extreme sports. At the same time, there is such peace and joy of nature surrounding it all. FISHERMAN’s CABINS We have four apartments. We can accommodate 24 people at a time. All apartments have 3 bedrooms with 2 single beds in each. Each apartment can accommodate 6 people. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking. The apartments have a simple standard and they are clean and nice. We clean the apartment after your stay. We have gutting room and freezer room. We have fishing equipment for sale and rent. As well as some equipment that you can borrow. You can rent fishing rods from us, as well as buy some fishing equipment. We have some warm life suits, as shown in the pictures. Our boats are on our own pier. It is 200 meters to the nearest grocery store. Opening hours: MATKROKEN GJESVÆR (coop.no) Your own boat With us, you can have your own boat so that you can go out fishing yourself. Such a freedom! Our boats can accommodate 4-8 anglers. It is only 10-15 minute boat ride out to the first deep sea fishing spot. The first day we take you out fishing, so you know where and how it is best to fish for which fish. The first guided tour (and the tour's first thousand tips) is for free! Service We can shop at the local grocery store for you in advance if you wish, or if you arrive after its opening hours. We wash the fisherman's cabin after you. It's a wonderful feeling to just leave the mess and move on. Family activities For families with children who come to Gjesvær, there are several activities: - Boat trip (one boat trip is for free when staying with us) - Birds and whale watching at sea - Fishing trips - Hiking to the nearest mountain cabins and mountain tops (free) - Walk in the birch forest (free) And elsewhere in the area there are: - Driving with ATW - Kayak - SUP - Sea rafting Link to event agency: Nature experiences in Finnmark | Destinasjon 71° Nord (71-nord.no) Child care If you have children who cannot swim yet, we recommend booking the 2nd floor. It is important that you bring a life jacket for your children if they cannot swim. Future We bought this place last year and we are working on the upgrade. Our guests are already enjoying themselves with us. And we hope for many more regulars who think of us as their home for their vacations. Prices Fisherman's friend: BOAT N’ STAY We guide your first trip out to sea (that trip is worth its weight in gold!), and you have your own boat after that. Apartment & boat per night: NOK 5,000 Minimum 2 nights stay. Included one boat sightseeing/fishing course, one apartment for up to 6-7 pers, one boat, clean-out, towels and linen. It does not matter how many you are. There is room for up to 6 people (7 if you want to sleep in the living room) Diesel is extra. If you are a pro angler, we recommend you to stay a week to get the most out of the different weather. Explorer's friend: SEA N' STAY We will take you on out to sea while you stay with us. The trip is included! Boat sightseeing & Apartment per night: NOK 4,000 Minimum 2 nght stay. Included one apartment, clean-out, towels and linen. It does not matter how many you are. There is room for up to 6 people (7 if you want to sleep in the living room) FISHING GUIDE 3 hours at sea including boat: NOK 4,500 3 hours in the mountains: NOK 3,000 Filip and Martin take you out to the best places, teach fishing techniques, different fishing equipment and local secrets. ONLY BOATS: ASKELADDEN Capacity: 4 - 5 fishermen. Max 6 persons.
